Step 1 :Cream the yeast with warm water and cover with a warm damp cloth. Put in a warm place for 5 minutes for the yeast to grow.
Step 2 : In a clean bowl, sieve the flour and salt.
Step 3 : Put 1 and 2 into a dough blender, add margarine, food colour and mix well into a soft but not sticky dough. Remove and cover dough with a warm damp cloth and put in a warm place for 10â€“ 15 minutes so as to allow dough to prove
Step 4 : Knock down the dough and knead lightly; make buns in shape of animals and put onto a greased baking sheet. Prove further for 5 minutes.
Step 5 :Put “ears” using almonds and “eyes” using sultanas.
Step 6 : Glaze the buns with whisked egg and bake in a hot
oven for 15 – 20 minutes.
Step 7 : Remove buns from the oven and cool on a wire
rack. Serve with soup.
